Travelogues

It's been a great trip so far.Just the beach and the sea does wonders for me.Playing with Papu, up and down when the waves come lashing, laughing, giggling, pure bliss. No doubt someone said you can find happiness in the simplest of things if you know how to.Sitting on the porch, the leaves on the tree rustling, drinking my cereal drink..............heaven.A mother cat roaming on the green grass, her kittens in a trail, jumping and teasing each other. While a boy walks along with a stick lost in his own world.

A new day
They say all good things must come to an end. But I believe that the ending of good things mean the beginning of even better things to come. Didn’t they say that when one door closes another one opens. So I am waiting for that special door to open. I have a strange sixth sense that says it’s not too far awayJ.I feel thrilled and good for myself, sitting at Payap and seeing a great future for the presence of Drama in ESL teaching getting it’s due importance. If I could be helpful in doing that I will definitely feel like I have reached some goal.
Can language be taught just through pages and pages of text in black and white, through tons and tons of worksheets, through learning the rules and then just to forget it the minute they pass the exam? I pity the students.
My dream is to see students enjoying learning English, having fun and experimenting with each other and the teachers. Let’s not make it a criterion for status symbol or a better job. So please my dear students, don’t worry be happy. Make mistakes and smile it off, learn to laugh at your mistakes. After all not everyone can speak Chinese so it’s alright if you can’t speak English

The day started with a lot of excitement for both teachers and students. The students were busy making the "Paans" and were enjoying it."Wai Khru" in Thai language means paying respect to the teacher. They give floral offerings to the teachers who in turn tie a string on their wrists to bless them. Here are some pics from the Wai Khru ceremony at Yonok University.

A scene from the rehearsal of Cinderella by the English major students of Yonok University in Lampang

All the students show great interest and the movement and activity that drama can bring into ESL classroom is very obvious in this clip.In this scene the prince walks into the room where the stepsisters are dancing and goes to ask Cinderella if she would like to dance with him.
